Carrera y Carrera Launch of the Mediterraneo Collection
On 19th August 2011, The international Spanish Jewellery brand Carrera y Carrera hosted a Buka Puasa Dinner at the Starhill Gallery boutique to launch the latest and newest collection of the firm: the Mediterráneo Collection which tells of the legends of goddesses and nymphs who have dwelt in this tranquil sea through the exquisite craftsmanship of its pieces in yellow gold, white gold and diamonds.
Models dressed in typical Malaysian outfits by Pink Jambu showcased to the guests the spectacular pieces of the collection inspired by the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea and its shores of fine golden sand. Jewels which suggest the shapes and volumes of its hidden treasures: iridescent seashells, original Nautilus, and suggestive starfish shining in the sun.
Pieces especially created with a young, professional and independent woman in mind, one who is sophisticated and always exquisitely elegant. The Mediterráneo woman shows her strength of character through her own image, her way of dressing, and also through the accessories she uses daily, such as jewelry.
Epic stories have inspired each one of the lines of Mediterráneo:
• Actea, the beautiful, vigilant nymph that watched over sailors. The elegance of Actea is reflected in the rings with round shapes and unusual models.
• Afrodita, the embodiment of tender love on the shores of a calm sea. Voluptuous pendants are reminiscent of sweet Afrodita walking along the beach in search of beautiful shells.
• Calipso, symbol of passion and desire for heroic Odysseus. All the beauty of Calipso is represented by conches which turn into rings and earrings
• Atenea, the magnificent goddess that displayed her splendor across the seas of the world. Atenea gives as stars from the sea which are harmoniously and elegantly captured in filigree of golden hair to transform into necklaces and earrings where the glitter of diamonds takes centre stage.
The face of the Mediterráneo collection is Olivia Palermo, an American socialite model very well known internationally and who represents the modern, young Spanish women of today
After the show, a lavish Spanish tapas dinner was served to guests who enjoyed a relaxing evening browsing and trying on the pieces individually.

One of the special highlights of the night was the “treasure box”. Hiding inside, was a piece of the new Mediterráneo collection waiting to be won. All guests were invited to try opening it by selecting the right key from over a hundred keys swimming in a fish bowl. It was a fun activity that definitely spiced up the evening.
